After one year training of Future Elite Program granted by college of engineering NCKU, I came to the United States of America accompanied with 22 engineering students from different backgrounds. Albeit this is not my first time to go abroad, I earned the most experience from this activity. Constant culture shock during the trip is inevitable, and it means that I am getting mature in the meantime. If I had to point out one of the American features that I admire, I would definitely speck out "diversity". In my opinion, USA is arguably great because it embraces immigrants with different cultures, and hence everyone here attempts to be the best they could be.  A person is great for having a dream, and the criterion of American Dream is that "everyone has equal opportunity to pursue their personal vision." Here I saw our seniors made divergent decisions and did very well in their career here. For example, some went to America right after graduated from NCKU, some gained a degree in Taiwan and came here, and some shaft their research tracks when they came to the United States. America is charming because the individuals are allowed to pursue their dream fearlessly.

Life experience of Alumnus flashes up our path likened a beacon.
The America tour in 2016 included the academic visiting such as Harvard, MIT, BU and NYU, and industrial visiting such as i-robot, IBM, Novartis and Google-NY. In fact, arranging itinerary was not that easy, and even we almost gave up many times while there was no reply to our request. Fortunately, we gained the assistance of NCKU alumni Association of Great New York, especially chairman Lai for bridging the connection with these prestige enterprises and renowned universities. What we saw in this trip was not only the magnificence of America but the robust bonding between each NCKU alumni.
Some analogy studying abroad as a game to get chairs, and notice us to strive for the opportunities to make connections between other countries and Taiwan.

Mr. Chuange, CEO of IOH, metaphors studying abroad likened as the game of musical chairs, and it notices us to strive for the opportunities to bridge connections between Taiwan and other countries. However, apprehensive over Taiwan’s circumstance is taken for granted, but I am still confident about Taiwan’s future and vitality after the tour. Mr. Wu, senior NCKU alumni, also encouraged us with Thomas A Edison’s quote: "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work ". Indeed, there are shortcuts to success, but all we have to do is trying and testing. Furthermore, being an optimist is essential to usher the promising future.
Individually, making a choice in our life is just like standing at the intersection, and veterans’ experience likens a compass to guide the direction. Accordingly, I always pay attention to experience sharing offered by veterans, and their precious life experience is beneficial to us as a useful roadmap. When we get stuck in life, what we need to do is to take out the map and compass, and then usher us in a new era of life.
We do appreciate Cheng Kung University Alumni Association of Boston and Great New York, and I do expect each of us in Future Elite Program can make progress on NCKU and Taiwan facilitating by our respectful alumni.
